Director Sarah Brown and Senior Conservator Nick Teed have just returned from an exciting visit to the world-famous Lamberts glasshouse in Waldsassen, where glass is manufactured that is being used to conserve parts of the Great East Window. The first batch of hand-made glass was supplied based on glass samples sent to Germany in the post.
"This time, not only did we see the sheets being blown by the Lamberts team of master glass-makers, but we were also able to chose sheets to match some of our most challenging colours from the immense range available', said Nick Teed. 'We have long admired the quality of Lamberts glass, but now that we have met those who make it and witnessed their extraordinary skill and commitment to their product, we will use it with even greater respect', says Sarah.
