In Spring 2016, the York Glaziers Trust were commissioned to design and make stained glass for one of the show gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show. 'God's Own County - A Garden for Yorkshire' was designed by Matthew Wilson, well known for his leading roles at Hyde Hall and Harlow Carr gardens. Matthew's brief was to design a show garden that represented the county of Yorkshire, taking particular inspiration from York Minster. A monumental stained glass screen was designed by Janet Parkin, a conservator and artist-designer at the York Glaziers Trust. The panels were made by Monika Adamczak and Tony Cattle, and both joined Nick Teed in Chelsea for the installation of the screen. The completed garden won the People's Choice award.
As part of a fundraising event held in York Minster in June 2018, original stained glass panels from the Chelsea Flower Show were auctioned. Appropriately, this event kick-started the York Minster Funds fundraising programme to conserve and protect the Minster's stained glass, as part of a continuous 20-year programme of works in exclusive partnership with the Trust. Over £1 million was raised at the event.
