Sound and light artists Ross Ashton and Karen Monid, from the critically acclaimed Projection Studio, have returned to York for a seven-night sold-out immersive audio and visual installation, transforming the nave of York Minster. The YGT's staff were treated to a special private preview of the spectacular 'Northern Lights' event, which uses the Trust's high-definition medium format images of the stained glass as part of the performance. Over 20,000 members of the public subsequently visited the Minster to see the light show, part of a campaign by the York Minster Fund to build an ongoing endowment to fund the YGT's vital work conserving and protecting the Minster's stained glass. Alongside, a specially curated programme of research talks relating to the themes of the 'Northern Lights' show was held in the Minster's Chapter House. The YGT's director took part in these lectures, alongside other invited experts.
