Oxford-based award winning professional photographer Ian Taylor has captured Balliol College Chapel's recently conserved stained glass windows. Taylor has won national awards such as the British Institute of Photography and Fuji. YGT are proud to have had their work showcased by such an acclaimed photographer.
Read more…Our director Sarah Brown has been approached by various local, national and international press organisations in relation to the recent fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. The YGT has experience of dealing with the aftermath of a major fire. In 1984 the Great Rose Window of York Minster was significantly damaged by a fire that broke out in the south transept of the cathedral. It was subsequently painstakingly conserved by the Trust, using what was then the most pioneering and cutting-edge technologies available.
Read more…The chapel at Balliol College, Oxford, contains artworks of the highest significance. Included in this is its sixteenth-century east window (c.1529). This stained glass has been carefully conserved by the York Glaziers Trust, after a survey conducted by them in 2017 observed the deteriorating state of the window's paint and enamel.
Read more…The YGT have returned to the Church of St Mary, Lastingham, on the southern edge of the North York Moors to reinstate the final two windows that have recently been under conservation in our workshops in York. This represents the culmination of a four year association with the church and its dedicated parishioners. Lastingham Priory's apse contains five exceptionally rare nineteenth-century windows by Italian artist Ulisse de Matteis (1827-1910).

The Design Awards celebrate and promote the highest levels of craftsmanship and was founded by former Lord Mayor Janet Hopton. The awards are judged by eminent national and international experts in architecture and design.
Read more…In Spring 2016, the York Glaziers Trust were commissioned to design and make stained glass for one of the show gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show. 'God's Own County - A Garden for Yorkshire' was designed by Matthew Wilson, well known for his leading roles at Hyde Hall and Harlow Carr gardens.
